About the speech:
This year's edition of the Asia Days conference ends with a closing speech, given by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, his Excellency Dr. Roh Tae-kang. In his speech, he will provide us with further information on the Swiss-ROK relations, give insights into Korean culture and discuss the Republic of Korea´s response to Covid-19.
About the speaker:
Dr. Roh Tae-kang started his early career in 1984 working for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in the Republic of Korea where he served as a Director for the International Sports Division and International Cultural Cooperation Division. In 2006, Dr. Roh took up his new duties as Minister-Counsellor at the Korean Embassy in Germany and was director for the Korean Cultural Center in Berlin. Afterwards in 2011, Dr. Roh came back to Korea to work for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) as a Director-General in the Sports Bureau, as well as the Education, Cultural Cooperation Bureau, and the National Museum of Korea for the next five years. During this time, Dr. Roh received the Order of Service Merit in 2012 for his outstanding contribution to the national development. In 2016, Dr. Roh served as the Secretary General for the Korea Sports Safety Foundation and was appointed as 2nd Vice Minister at MCST one year later. Dr. Roh remained in this function until 2019 and took up his new duty as the South Korean ambassador to Switzerland in late 2020. Dr. Roh Tae-Kang holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Viadrina European University in Germany, a M.A., and B.A. in Public Administration from KNU, Republic of Korea.
